Un-decking Chassis Policy

It is the policy of SkyMark Companies (SMC), consignee, to require the transport company to follow this policy. If there are questions about this policy, please advise a SMC associate so that we may answer your questions.

  • Un-decking a chassis
    • The process of carefully removing a truck from a stack of trucks that have been transported on top of each other
    • This process requires precision and expertise to avoid damaging the trucks and property 
  • Un-decking Locations
    • Main Location KC
      • 4001 E 149th St Suite B, Kansas City, MO 64147
        • Must be north of the yellow dividing line
        • Must occur on SMC property
    • Remote Location KC
      • Corner of Andrews Road and Botts Road, Kansas City, MO 64147
        • Southeast of main location
        • Go to corner of 149th and Botts Road
        • Turn south (right side)
        • Proceed to the next east intersection (left side)

  • Recommended Equipment
    • 50 ton rotator tow truck or comparable rotator unit
    • Due to safety concerns, we do not recommend non-rotator equipment
  • Requirements/Responsibilities
    • Transport Company
      • Performing tasks in a responsible and safe manner
      • Maintain a safe distance for flow of traffic
        • Equipment must be positioned to not impede any other traffic
        • Un-decking on main location property
          • 25 feet of clearance must be maintained at ALL times
        • Un-decking must be performed on SMC property
      • Costs incurred from tow company for un-decking of equipment
      • Costs incurred due to damage of property
      • Costs incurred as delay or demurrage fees
      • Disputes between transport and tow company
    • SMC (Consignee)
      • Receipt of un-decked chassis
      • Damage inspection of delivered chassis
        • Any discovered damage MUST be noted on paperwork and provided to transport company
      • Completion of receipt paperwork for delivered chassis
